The pocket size GMI 15 moisture gauge is a handy tool that measures moisture or dampness up to a depth of 4 cm instantaneously.
It is simple to use and there is no need to drill holes or apply any other destructive actions on your test surface! Place the gauge with the back panel flat on the area that you want to test with the digital display facing you. It will give you a digital indication after you switch it on.
Your first step will be to measure an already dried area, like an internal wall constructed a few years ago which has not been exposed to any water from internal plumbing leaks, etc. This measurement will be your reference point.
Your second step is to then measure the new project. If the readings are higher than your reference point from your first step, your masonry is still too moist. If the reading is similar or less than your reference point, your masonry is dry.
This handy gauge can also be used to detect dampness in wood up to 3 cm deep, and dampness behind ceramic tiles and various wall or floor coverings. It is perfect to detect dampness in old houses or buildings that may be caused by small leaks in plumbing, or even in shower and bath cubicles which might not be water proof anymore.
The gauge is an ideal tool for estate agents to check the state of buildings, for property managers, home owners in general and for DIY, architects, building inspectors and building contractors.
This device can even be used to find dampness in caravans and mobile homes, and boats where moisture can penetrate the insulation.
